We stayed here recently for three nights, and whilst the staff were keen to please, they had little idea of how to provide efficient service, and were hampered by the fact that Teak Lodge is in need of much basic maintenance. On our first night, the water heater wasn't working; neither was the fan (essential to keep mosquitoes at bay at Vic Falls), and the socket for the TV didn't work.
The second room we tried had a working fan and sockets, but only one of the five lights worked, and there was no seat for the WC.
The kitchen reminded me of student days, with its handleless pans and chipped mugs. The young girl who was in charge of preparing breakfast was lovely, but had no idea how to cook it, so I did it all, and gave her a plateful in the hope that she'd know how to do a 'Full English' for future guests.
An interesting experience, but a long way from the comfort promised in the advert. Still, by Vic Falls standards, fair value in this overpriced corner of an...
