On the recommendation of a good friend, my wife and I stayed at The Ultimate Lodge in Victoria Falls on our first trip to Zimbabwe. It surpassed our expectations. The Ultimate Lodge is a real find in the town of Vic Falls, a town where some of the tourist operations don't seem to fit in very well. The grounds of the Ultimate Lodge are a lush, beautiful oasis, very authentically African in style. What a relaxing place to stay, and a great base for exploring the town, seeing the falls, trying some of the activities, and learning more about the culture. The rooms are large and comfortable, although we really weren't in them except to sleep. The service is personal and second to none. The lodge's owner, Russ Caldecott, is a man who knows no limits and has an obvious passion for providing the best possible experience to every one of his guests.
