Ok, I travel extensively and been to numerous Third World hotels in Africa and some in the old Russian Republics. By those standards, this hotel was okay. By international standards, dated, some 3 star facilities but generally 2 star. I was surprised at the charge - $127 but the room was spacious if dated. It would have been good value... more

We had single rooms at $110 per night, including taxes and a varied, substantial breakfast. The rooms were dimly lit and shabby as was the lobby. A few bright table lamps in the lobby and in the rooms would have lifted the mood of this hotel. I spent about ten days in Accra for a conference and this was the hotel provided by the Government of Ghana. I found it substandard and overpriced. The whole place would need refurbishing, and actually it seems some rooms have been slightly upgraded while others are crumbling over your head... I spent 5 nights at the Shangri-La in October 208 (dry season). It's about 10 minutes from the airport, but about half an hour by taxi from the city. The place is ok, but appears dated.
