I read the reviews before we stayed at this hotel. I didn't think ANY place could be that bad, but the reviews were right on the mark. Staff (except for housekeeping) were not friendly or helpful. The facility was outdated and run down. The food in the restaurant was good, but ridiculously overpriced. Internet is "iffy" and you have to... More

This hotel is beyond tired; were there no other large business hotels in Conakry no one would chose to stay here: filthy stairwells (necessary when the elevator breaks down or takes for ever to arrive), filthy carpets, musty rooms, and even the occasional prostitute soliciting customers at the elevator landing on your floor - the only redeeming quality was relative... Novotel has let this slip too far and has nevertheless kept the usual prices. Tatty and poorly maintained (one lift broken for 6 days at least), unsmiling, unhelpful staff, inefficient slow service. There are a few good souls working there and the main restaurant was OK. But stained carpets, chipped paint, ineffective A/C, dirty old bathroom suite, no wifi (except... More

Upon checkin, reception requested payment although my booking was prepaid. Upon check out, reception requested payment again although booking prepaid, then they requested payment of breakfast although was included !!!

Unfortunately this is the only hotel with an international flag -Accor - but do not be misled. The hotel is old - tired - filthy and is run by a team of people who have no notion of hospitality or hotel business. The photos below give you an indication of the state of the hotel and the age of hotel.... More

if your company offers a choice on which other hotels you can stay at, please consider it. This is the worst rip off in West Africa. This hotel is filthy, I have never in my life met such unfriendly staff. From the front desk to the cleaners. The food is horrible, and everything is way over priced, This hotel will... More

Well overpriced for the quality of the hotel. The breakfast and the lunch is aslo way overpriced. Unfortunately it is the only hotel in Conakry so for now you haven't to much choice if you want to sleep in Conakry

Food in the restaurant was distinctly average and everything was way overpriced. Rooms are shabby and dated (in fact, so is the whole hotel), air conditioning in the rooms is almost non-existent and is not individually controlable, so prepare yourself for an uncomfortably warm night, only to be woken by the prostitutes walking the corridors knocking on doors for their... Must have been very nice when it was new - about 40 years ago. Now it is old and slightly shabby. The breakfast is very basic and the price is by far too high for such a hotel. The terrace and terrace furniture is very old. The rock beach is full of rubbish.

The rule of the thumb with hotels is that the fewer the options there are in any given location, the more expensive the available ones are - regardless of the standards on offer. This certainly applies in Conakry where there aren't very many hotels and the Novotel Ghi is apparently the best. The overall standards are poor. The staff is... More
