I first traveled to Liberia in 2004, when the Mamba Point was one of only two places to stay in town. I had arranged housing then, but often went to the Mamba Point because it had one of the best restaurants in town. Returning to Liberia now, in 2009, I have seen both how the country has progressed and how... more

The rooms are pretty good and the food is not bad. I am still trying to understand if not smiling and being helpful is just cultural or if they are just rude here. The service acts like they could not give a hoot about you and your stay. I tried to go to the beach today and was told by... more

Although the rooms are not outstanding, they provide clean and air conditioned accomodation. Food is much better than the expectations especially sea food. Common areas quality is much better than rooms. more

This was my second time at Mamba Point and a memorable one thanks to the graciousness of the hotel's management and staff. First, when a mix up in my reservation was apparent (no fault of the hotel) and no rooms were available the first 2 days of my visit, the desk staff went out of their way to help me... more

I booked the hotel because of the convenient location close to the offices of NGO's, some good reviews and lack of real alternatives. The lobby-reception are very modern and probably recently renovated. But it is a bizarre contrast because everything after that seems to be out of a bad 70's B-movie. It seems that people accept it because "this is... more

I stayed with a business associate for 2 weeks in June 2009. This was our first trip to Monrovia and frankly we were concerned as to what we would find. First the hotel is the prime location to stay at in the city. It has an absolutely spectacular view of the ocean. It is very near the US Embassy. The... more

If you are in Monrovia its probably not for leisure so what you are looking for is a secure, air-conditioned, clean room with internet access and a place to eat a decent meal. Mamba point offers all of this and you can even use the olympic size pool across the road while you are at it. The foyer and new... more

While I did not stay in the hotel, I did have dinner there one evening with friends. The selection was good and the food was excellent as was our service. The hotel and restaurant are just down the street for the U.S. Embassy and United Nationas High Commission for Refugees. There also seem to be ample parking as far as... more

Maybe it is because Liberia has never experienced colonial rule, that there is no real "Grand Hotel" like in most other African capital cities. The best Monrovian city hotels that cater to foreigners are The Mamba Point, The Cape Hotel and The Royal (in that order in my opinion). They would all be 3 stars at western standards, maybe 4... more

The Mamba Point Hotel is one of the most disgusting places I have ever stayed at. I feel terrible for the staff because it is obvious that they have been subjected by abusive management for a long time and now take their aggressions out on the hotel guests. There is full construction happening in the front lobby with dust and... more
