I’ve stayed here twice (June 2008 and February 2009). The hotel is well run with staff that seems genuinely interested in ensuring you have a good stay. The hotel is undergoing expansion—which means it’s quite noisy during the day. The rooms are clean and adequately furnished, if a bit dark. The mattress in my room was very uncomfortable—it felt like I was sleeping on a box spring—no padding between the springs and me. And as in other hotels I’ve stayed in Africa, there are no clocks. The bathroom was large, clean, modern, but the towels, while clean, were a bit thin and shabby. Minor maintenance/housekeeping problems (e.g., burned out light bulbs, leaky shower stall) are fixed quickly once the staff understands your request. If you don’t speak Arabic, and aren’t certain that the staff understands your request, be sure to ask for the manager. He’ll ensure your problems are attended to quickly.
