This government owned hotel is truly awful. From the unsmiling reception staff, very few who can speak English in a supposed 5 star hotel, to the shocking room service it is a disaster. It took 48 hours for them to supply toilet tissue despite being asked on several occasions. The minibar in the room is empty and I eventually had... More

Last time i had been here was 2.5 years age & it was horrible. Now, i was happy to find it recently renewed . Its location is perfect & quite, you're few steps away from Tripoli tower which is a nice shopping center to hangout, few steps away from Dat Elemad 5 towers which are business buildings even western embassies... Its location is better than the other hotels but service quality and hygen is terrible. I suggest Hotel Cairo. Its at the city center, close to the green spuare. Good staff nice service. 10 rooms small hotel but better than the 5 stars and the others. Go there!

PROs. Nice sea view, spacious rooms, TV works, buffet meals so you do not have to wait, price is relatively cheap (150LDY = $120/night) - but poor value compared to the high overpriced alternatives in the city. CONs. Unprofessional, inefficient and slow reception and checkin, and they insist on that you pay nearly all the stay in advance (if you... More

I spent 3 days in the Bab Al Bahr hotel in Tripoli between September 3-6 2012. I could recommend the hotel placed on the sea side for business travelers without special expectations. Compared to the price and other alternatives you can get in Tripoli, Bab Al Bahr is a good solution. The rooms are acceptably clean and relatively large, half... More

The hotel might be good or average but there is no standards at all. I have made my reservation on-line from another third party website, and imagine what, they said that they never book online and I have to pay for my reservation which already paid. I dont have any other solution but to book again and claim my money... More

The location is nice, in front of the seaside (the seaside is terrible btw) between the Corinthia and the JW Marriot. The hotel although has been renovated is not very clean. I asked to change the first room the gave me because there were stains everywhere. The second one was slightly better but still inadequate. The breakfast is very poor... More

I visited the Bab Al Bahr Hotel yesterday. I heard before that it was quite rundown, but found that they have pretty recently renovated the hotel from the 7th floor up. This hotel has one of the nicest views of any hotel in Tripoli as it sits overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean coastline! It is also not far from downtown Tripoli,... More

I stayed in Bab el bahr for a conference for 4 days. The rooms are spacious, the staff are very friendly. The buffet is nice, away from strange Libyan food. You will definitely enjoy the view. The hotel is not far from shopping mall and historical places. Dont expect more than nice stay for short time.
