Where to begin. The restaurant stinks of rotten fish all the time. Staff specializes in rudeness and apathy (When will the business center open? "It will open" with rolling eyes). The lunch and dinner buffets are really expensive. Breakfast has watery eggs dumped like cattle fodder, and water bottles come at a premium, so stock up on that. Also, invest... more

Had a booking confirmed (through travel agency), Hotel Voucher, Credit Card already charged in advance, and came to Tripoli for an Exhibition. Once arrived, they said there is no reservation-goodbye-next in line please. Asked the general manager - wasn't there. Manager on Duty - neither. Somehow managed to find an emergency solution - not easy because hotels are not exactly... more

Okay, let's get the argument into perspective right away. If you're fussy, intollerant and not ready to adhere to Libyan standards -just stay away from this hotel. You can can simply fork out a tenfold of what you will pay here and book your stay at the superb Corinthia Bab Africa. I have stayed at the Grand on three or... more

I quite enjoyed my 8 night stay at the Al Kebir. Instead of giving you a full description of my stay, I'll just relate some highlights. Room: In a nutshell, it was fairly clean, but old. For the money you pay, you can't really expect more. If I look past the minor stains here and there, (as well as the... more

Very well located. (close to the harbour, to the medina,...) Ask for a room on the sea side (better view). Not perfectly clean but still OK. Management a little bit lazy. Restaurant OK but you will find better place in the city. Prices really reasonable. more

I had heard some bad reports about this hotel so i arrived with low expectations. However, i was pleasantly suprised with the overall service and atmosphere of this hotel. Firstly the location is unbeatable. Just 5 mins walk to Green square and the Medina and very close to the harbour. From my room i had a great sea view from... more

The Kebir has location going for it as it's on the corniche overlooking the harbour and a short walk from the Green Square, castle, souk, and main shopping areas. The rooms are adequate but tired and need some upgrading and redecorating. Bathrooms are good with lots of hot water, nice deep baths etc. I was part of a tour and... more
