We spent two nights at Hotel Colbert, both times without a reservation, but staff were very accomodating. This hotel has a new wing which is much nicer than the old side, but much more expensive too. We tried their spa. The instalations were very good, but unfotunately my foot massage left a lot to wish for. It has a great... more

I've stayed several times at the Hotel Colbert; it's a reasonably good choice for both travelers and tourists. It's very dependable, the food is decent, and it has a Business Centre (for which you pay extra) where you can check your email. We were traveling as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) and on both occasions that we... more

Hotel Colbert was beyond our expectations. We (three of us) were in a suite in the new wing. The accommodation shouted 5* and we weren't disappointed. The staff were very helpful, the food very good, eaten in pleasant surroundings. We have no complaints and would happily stay there again. more

We treated ourselved to three nights in a beautiful room in the new part of the hotel, after a dusty week on the road. I think that the question here is the huge differnce in quality between the new red-and-glass tower rooms and the other, (cheaper) older part of the hotel, which would have dissapointed me, had I booked it... more

I had been told this was the best hotel in Tana. What a disappointment!!! I went to Madagascar for working purposes and I stayed at the Colbert 3 times in 3 different rooms. The first room was turned to the street and very noisy, although big. The second room was quite ok, but I was waken up at 6.30h two... more

This place was a complete anti-climax. After backpacking through Madagascar for 2 weeks, we thought we'd treat ourselves with a little luxury at the end of our trip. But what a let down. The hot water was luke warm, the room was unattractive and the service was not up to standard. There was nothing special about this place. At all.... more

We stayed at the Hotel Colbert off and on during our stay in Madagascar and we always looked forward to returning there. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the staff was more than accomodating and the food was terrific. It was all you could ask for in a hotel. more

I stayed at the Colbert while on a short business trip in Tana. First, what the Colbert has going for it: it's a reasonable international standard hotel with at least two French restaurants (one of which seemed very stuffy and was completely empty when we looked in) and is in an atmospheric area of town (the final leg of the... more

This place is a joke. Its a chameleon. The lobby makes it look really impressive. And they call themselves a 4 star hotel. However once I got to my room, I felt completely bambooselled. Everything was raggity. The bed was old, the sheets were rough, the pillows were falling apart. And don't expect service if you only speak English. On... more

When my husband and I began our honeymoon we wanted somewhere a bit special to start ourselves off with our trip though Madagascar and this definitely fitted the bill. We especially enjoyed the spa and spent quite a bit of time either lying by the indoor pool relaxing or having treatments in the spa - the bubble bath with honey... more
