I stayed by choice, in one of the downstairs 2nd category rooms (same comments as per the others here, in terms of quality of accommodation at this level). In addition, the room was HOT and stuffy. There were 2 windows; but neither has any flywire to stop mosquito's at all. There was one fan in my room, but only blowing-around... More

My 3-week stay at the Okapi (January 2013) was good, especially during the time I stayed on the "non-street (cobblestone)" side, with its panoramic view of the hills, and took full advantage of its balcony. Bed, bathroom, storage space are good, as is the restaurant--especially the spaghetti bolognaise; cabbage, carrot, avocado salad; and local beer. Okapi's free breakfasts always included... More

i spend almost each weekend in kigali. okapi turned to be fairly priced option. am usually having $35 single room but have to say that even within that range, rooms can be very different. i have tried about 7-8 rooms by now and while some of them are basic and very ok, others are quite below same standard. hotel is... The Okapi hotel is moderately priced, very nicely furnished, and is in an excellent location within easy walking distance of downtown. It serves a very nice breakfast in a room with a view of the surrounding area. The relaxed atmosphere at breakfast facilitated some interesting conversations; one in particular with a fellow American who collected gold nuggets from all over... More

I arrived at Okapi, planning to stay for only 1 night, due to bad reviews. It was a rainstorm at 5 pm when I arrived on the bus from Burundi. It seemed the most decent, closest place. I ended up staying for 2 weeks! They have 3 classes of rooms, for singles shared bathroom (never saw), continued rooms in a... More

I stayed here for one night en route to Goma - and I have to say that even with the threat of rebel activity around Goma it was far preferable to staying any more time at Okapi. The room I had was cramped, dirty & smelly, the bedding may have been fresh but the mattress beneath it had clearly suffered... More

Stayed there for 4 night in the suite...85 usd per night, 2 days without water with people going on telling us it was coming 5 minutes later but it lasted 2 days. Had to get the shower in the building next door, where cockroches were on the shower. Owner told us he was giving a free meal at his indian... More

A small defined hotel in the middle of the great capital of Rwanda -Kigali, with a good view of the Kigali Hills of Nyabugogo, this really moved me. The rooms were well furnished and for the cuisine served with tropical fruits that really made me wanting the more. The staff service cannot be explained very welcoming and friendly. Upton Now... Hotel is right uphill in the city centre a 15 min-walk to the famous Hotel de Mille Collines. Basic en suite rooms start around 40 $, breakfast is an extra 10 $ and not worth the money (literally leftovers from the last day dinner) – leave it and eat in one of the restaurants nearby. I stayed 3 times in... More

I loved this place 2 years back, but travellers are no longer the focus. It is mainly now for local business people, which is fine, of course, but it is not the meeting place for travellers it once was, and the service is now less attentive and often indifferent. I also found they do not answers emails when I tried... More
