Location right in the heart of rhe city is nice, as is the proximity to the sea. They have wireless in the rooms although reception told me they didn't. Food is fine altough room service was sloooow on two occasions. Swimming pool area is very good. more

the lobby is nice. the pool area beautiful. location, can't be beat, but once you enter your room you can find a shower that's not working, a noisy room from the a/c, a smelly room, and the list goes on. the staff if very nice, but it stops there. i have many co-workers who must stay at this hotel and... more

I stayed at this hotel (four times) in February and March for work and found that for the price it definitely needs to be updated. The hotel lobby, pool and first floor are very nice-airy,great views, marble floors, etc. Upon opening the door to your room, you will feel as though you are in a hotel stuck in 1070's decor and in desperate need... more

The Sofitel was lovely. We arrived early in the morning and they let us have our rooms early so we could rest. The rooms were perfectly clean and attractive, and had a beautiful view of the ocean and Ile Goree. Breakfast was delicious (they had nutella!), though I'd recommend leaving the hotel for other meals (Just 4 U is a... more

Stayed her for first four nights in Dakar. Nice enough hotel, but no bargain. Rooms and hallways feel dated, and not in top condition. Food is absurd - something like USD$30 for breakfast. Pool is very nice, but after a few days I moved to La Croix du Sud - which is decent enough and less than half the price... more

We had two consecutive stays at Dakar's Sofitel; It seemed that for the first stay of 6 nights nothing went right. A few of the problems included: -Despite having a print out of our reservation, the check-in staff insisted that had not reserved. The entire process took over an hour. -We requested non-smoking rooms. The bell-boy simply removed the ash-tray... more

I agree - this hotel is a stain on the Sofitel brand name although not for the prices charged! For a developing country, the prices are RIDICULOUS. Like 5 euros for a bottle of water Staff are good and friendly, even when they are trying to sell you Senegalese currency (that was a room service maid). The jewel is the... more

Just returned from vacationing & a pilgrimage to Africa. The hotel was wonderful - very upscale and services offered were very nice. The hotel offered a sparkling pool and was right at the oceans edge. Our room overlooked this scene that included flowering bouganivillea & tropical natural landscaping. The staff was very attentive, caring and respectful. We had a great... more

Rooms on the smallish side, but pleasant nonetheless. Did get locked out on the terrace at 2:30 a.m. Interior self locking doors, be forewarned! Did manage to yell to the street and had a security guard up to open the door within a few minutes.A decent location and clean and friendly, a nice oasis of peace and calm. Breakfast was... more

I stayed at the Meridien(supposedly the poshest), and the Sofitel in Dakar, and would recommend Sofitel first. The staff were all very helpful, and the setting which is central but overlooks the se a is unbeatable for a city hotel. The rooms are good ...(my bathroom could have done with a bit of a refurb )and the common areas including... more
