Unfortunately, Lusaka has almost no budget accommodation options and so almost everybody ends up staying at ChaChaCha. It shows. The place is shabby and rundown and generally looks pretty sorry for itself. It's also noisy and not very clean. The bar is only metres from the dorms, so don't expect to get much sleep without earplugs. We camped, which was better than stayind in dorms, except that the site was so small everybody was squashed in together with not even enough space for to put guy ropes out.

ChaChaCha's redeeming feature is its location - very close to city centre and a short taxi ride from the bus station. The staff were also nice and if you arrive at the right time you can get a meal cooked for you, as long as you provide the ingredients! It's a resonably cheap place to stay, but if there was an alternative I'd take it.

Stayed one night in January at ChaChaCha Backpackers as part of my return journey from Livingstone on route to Lusaka airport for my return flight to UK. I have used this backpackers a few years previously and it still remains a good option for somwhere to stay in Lusaka. Accomodation includes dormitories or you can stay in one of the garden huts, we chose to stay in the "a-frame" at the rear of the garden. The room was serviceable, had a clean and relatively comfortable bed, a good mosquito net and an all important british style 3-pin electric socket. The toilets and showers are in a small block to the side of the garden. The backpackers also includes self catering kitchen, a small cafe and poolside bar. The backpackers does have a good location, its about 20 minutes in a taxi from the international airport and a 10 minute walk onto the cairo road, the main street in Lusaka, as such it is convenient for the bus station and the all important buses to Livingstone... more
