This is the biggest hotel in central Thimpu (a small town) and the only 5 star property in the centre. There is another- Aman- outside -but no TV, geared up to getting totally away, bland rooms and crazy prices- whilst worth splashing out for punakha aman (just worth it for one night...) not worth it for the other places in... more

The title says everything about my experience: Lovely place with superb service and good food. But in Kathmandu or Delhi the same thing would cost much less. They are the only luxury hotel in town except for the $1,000 Aman property and are taking advantage of that. more

In this review, I will cover a little bit about how amazing Bhutan is, the weather, what to expect on your journey and above all Taj Tashi and how it compares to the rest of the hotels in Bhutan. Let’s start by introducing myself. I am a very frequent luxury traveler. I have travelled to innumerable 5 star hotels ,... more

I stayed here a few nights while touring Thimpu. The Taj is very pricey, but it has everything you could hope for in a hotel... The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. There are a couple of on-site restaurants, and a nice little bar. The room was huge and included free wireless internet. The bathroom was similarly huge, with a... more

I just came back from 8 days in Bhutan. It was hard treking but the idea was to go strong every day 6-15 miles a day but to come back every night to nice comfortable hotel. The first 3 days I spent in the Tashi Taj. Enjoyed every min of it. Coming back after long day to the superb service... more

We spent two weeks in Bhutan and spent time at the Taj and the Aman resorts. The rooms at the Taj were very well designed - giving it a Bhutanese feeling - well decorated with local pieces of art - but also including all the essential high end features including stellar bathrooms. The food included Bhutanese, Asian and European. In... more

Of course the Taj lived up to its name, and the hotel is a luxury. Given that the standard hotels are pretty basic, it stands above, but you pay for it. The Bar was good, great mixed drinks, though expensive. The breakfast was also very good. more

We stayed three nights at the Taj Tashi, a newly constructed luxury hotel that is a joint venture of the Taj hotel group from India and a Bhutanese company. The Taj is a blend of traditional and contemporary and even employs two monks who bless you upon arrival and departure and perform some other daily rituals for the hotel. The... more

After a week of travelling around Bhutan in standard government approved hotels, the complete luxury of the Taj Tashi was wonderful. This is probably the only true luxury hotel in Bhutan. The Amankoras are not really hotels, in my opinion. They are more of a luxury resort/lodge and don't provide all the services and facilities that a hotel does. The... more
