The hotel offers great comfort, excellent service (not like other Amankoras...) and beautiful surroundings. The only problem is lack of appropriate menu as it would be expected at 5* hotel. Food is more like mediocre youth hostel style or something like this. You cannot say it is bed - just tasteless - professional cook with experience is urgently needed at... More

We were all excited to book into two Bhutan Amans – the one in Thimphu and the one in Punakha. Our friends have always told us how great they were. The four of us were disappointed. They may have been great when built, but they have not kept up with the times. If you want to escape the world, get... More

This review encompasses my stay at Thimpu, Paro, Gangety and Punakha. A fantastic third stay with Amankora. Unfussy, excellent service, very individualized activities with dedicated guide and driver, and seamless movement from one lodge to the next. Take sunscreen: you'll get burned even in cool weather. Be aware that the roads around Punakha and Gangety are rough and make for... More

We did the 5 night Aman journey during the new year and we stayed at four properties during our stay (Thimphu, Gangtey, Punakha and Paro). The first part of my review is about Amankora in general which applies to all the properties and the second section is about the property itself in specific. We flew in via Bangkok and did... More

We stayed in four Amankora hotels in January 2013 and the experience was just amazing. As all hotels have the same rooms, I will write my review in two parts: a first one that apply to all four hotels which I will copy/paste and a second one which applies to the relevant hotel. First part: All Amankora hotels have the... More

We stayed at four of the five Amankora hotels in Bhutan. The staff and accommodations were first class . The design and finishing were first class and country appropriate. The guide and driver were excellent and very informative. The local color that was arranged for by the hotel helped bathe us in local culture.

Oh I run out of words and speech in this most peaceful place in the world. Rooms with fantastic setting. Bath Tub in the Centre of the room making it a beautiful place for the honeymooners and couples who want to unwind themselves. Any room same ambience and best part is that you don't have any connectivity and finally people... More

My mother and I stayed at this property over the Christmas holiday in 2012. We started our Bhutan trip at Amankora and moved over to Uma Paro a few days later, upon which we realized that we should have stayed at the Aman property in Paro as well. The price difference is huge, but once you are exposed to the... More

My wife and I have travel extensively for many, many years, and, as with anything, the more we travel, the more expectations we have from top hotels. The Aman met or exceeded those expectations. Yes, it is pricey but we felt it worth every penny. Because we made our plans last minute, we booked directly with Aman and had them... More

Amankora Journey We visited Bhutan in late December for 10 days. All my research suggested the best time to come to this country is in the Spring or the Fall. We learned by our own experience and talking with the hotel managers and guides that this is a misconception. Due to scheduling, December was the only time we could make... More
