We stayed here 2 nights, went off trekking for 4 days and stayed a further 2 nights. The rooms are clean, we had a lovely view of the mountains, and you can go up on the rooftop and watch the sunset. The owner, Sikar, organised our trek and guide (Amore - lovely bloke) and we were more than happy with it. We looked around for the going rate before booking the trek so knew we were getting a good deal. We only ate breakfast at the guesthouse but it was good. Our TV didn't have a good picture and he tried to sort it out for us straight away. Overall we were happy with our stay, just a side note, he'll charge everything to your room and then add 10% tax. more

I am 69 years old and this was my first time in Nepal. My family and I stayed at the Giri Guesthouse in Pokhara for 10 days in April 2009. It is owned by Shekhar Pageni and staffed by himself, wife, young daughter and a young nephew, all very courteous, helpful and friendly. English and German are spoken.

Previous to our booking I compared many budget guest houses, looking for cleanliness, good price, good situation and friendly staff, Giri came out top. One source I used was http://birgitte-in-nepal.reismee.nl/fotos/2807/mijn-kamer-in-het-giri-guesthouse/ which has some nice photos and comments.

I corresponded in advance by email, [--] Tel [--], and negotiotiated a price which was very reasonable. He suggested meeting us at the bus station. He did so and got us a taxi for 150 rupees. Drivers on the spot were asking 300 - 500 rupees and were giving people less fortunate as us a lot of hassle.
