Pokhara is pretty laid back. The Lakeside exudes an uncanny calmness to the lone traveller. Nice people. Nice restaurants. Nice hotels. Nice Lake.

I arrived by a Tourist Bus - a 6-Hour drive from Kathmandu (KMD) with two stops along the way for breakfast & lunch. I stayed in Pokhara Holiday Inn which I booked from my KMD hotel. You can of course book it online too [--]. The hotel, next to the Pokhara airport, is only a 5 min walk from the bus park. If you are concerned about noise, don't be. Its not noisy. The hotel is big and has plenty of clean rooms. They have a restaurant, swimming pool and garden too. Internet service is available but only one or two PCs available for 100 Rps an hour. But they let me use it for free as I only took a max of 10-15mins each time. The staff are friendly. The service is good. You should be able to get a map of Pokhara from them.
