The rooms are fairly old and old-fashioned, and all rooms smelled of damp and mildew. My family and I just returned from tours of Taiwan & China that took us around the island. I would say that Golden China was the best out of the hotels that they put us in in Taiwan, but compared to U.S. standards it was average.
