We spent six nights at Yu Yu and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel, recommended by Octopus, is only a couple of easy walking blocks from Zhongshan MRT station and so within easy reach of most of Taipei. While it is not one of the airport buses' stopover points, it is very near to the upmarket hotels on Zhongshan Rd where the buses stop. The rooms are large for the price they charge and clean. Hotel staff are extremely friendly (but so are most Taiwanese). Breakfast is very adequate, mainly Chinese porridge and western toasts facilities but with very good automatic expresso machine. Of course there are many shops nearby. For us the most useful facility was the free on cable broadband internet. You will need your own laptop but they will provide a cable if necessary.
