I've stayed in the Mandarin Hotel on Rama IV three times over a period of years and have always found the hotel to be perfectly adequate for a few days in Bangkok. The price - approx £12 per night - was unbelievable which also included breakfast. Checking in and out was smooth and the bedroom was fine. The buffet breakfast... more

We stayed in this hotel for several nights in Bangkok (after having stayed at another wonderful hotel during part of our first visit to the city). This hotel is located in the center of the city but that is about the only positive aspect. The rooms are okay, but old, and had a strange smell. The breakfast buffet seems nice... more

The Mandarin Hotel is a great hotel if you are on a cheap budget. The rooms were clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great swimming pool. The hotel was nothing fancy, but a cheap room that is clean! Breakfast buffet was fabulous. Also, you must go to the small bar in the lobby, very cheap drinks. more

The hotel at a outside glanse is still ' OK '. This hotel is a 30 year old 3 star hotel. The rooms of this hotel are Dirty, smelly, dusty and small! My bathroom's toioletbowl were choked always after flush, causing the whole room to smell. Location wise is good. Wasted such a good spot building this old hotel! The... more

Location is great. you can actually walk to the Silom area in 10 minutes. Other places can be accessible by skytrain or taxi, very convenient. Rooms were clean but a bit old. Good breakfast with wide varieties of food available. Staffs were friendly and polite. more

I made a reservation through ---.com for one night for two people at this hotel. I confirmed with ---.com that the Mandarin Hotel would permit my Thai friend entry to the room prior to my arrival late on a Friday-night. My friend arrived from Chiang Rai on Friday-morning (having spent 11 or so hours on a bus) and at about... more

Rooms are old and shabby though the lobby was impressive. Bathroom walls badly needs a scrub as they were mouldy. My partner had problem with mattress ticks but I slept without any issues. Don't extend stay as they charge you the earth - more than 100% what you would need to pay Asiarooms. Don't lose your room keys or get... more

My wife had a slip and fall in the tub the night before we left. No silly lawsuits or anything like that. All I wanted was to wrap her wrist in a bandage. The front desk said that they didn't have a first aid kit. Very disappointing. BAD HOTEL! Find one with common sense. more
