while in melaka, we stayed at the yellow mansion hotel, a budget hotel located 5 minutes walking time from the major tourist attractions in the town center. We stayed in the triple room (RM90 per night on weekends) and the quadtruple (RM110 per night on weekends). A family run business, the owners of the establishment was sociable and hospitable. The family restaurant serving local malay fare was not bad either with reasonable prices although some may find the food a tad bit on the spicy side, like most malay food in the state. A walk down the many lanes will lead you to chinese eateries, a clinic, a police station as well as a cyber cafe. We stayed out all night for every night we stayed there,and generally it was a safe stay but you may want to be alert when you walk back as the roads,tho heavily lighted, were quite lonely.
