Avoid the Baan sa-bai hotel recommended in the lonely planet if at all possible or bring your own blanket, because you'll need it. This place gets very cold at night and the air con doesn't heat the room at all. I woke up freezing in the middle of the night, sleeping fully clothed and with the sheets doubled over.
The room is otherwise a very good size, spartan in decor - not one picture on the wall - clinical looking inside and out, as described in the lonely planet, but spotless with TV, refrigerator and immaculate ensuite shower room. The price for the night was 700 baht, which is expensive for this part of the world where similar rooms can go for 300 or 400 bahts, including breakfast. And, after agreeing to accept the room I was told that this price didnt include breakfast!
