Thailand has so many fantastic hotels and guesthouses, why stay here? It was big, impersonal and average at best. The pool was crowded and not well maintained, the food mediocre and the rooms a bit worn and not very nice. The service was okay, as the Thai people are generally lovely and helpful. I stayed here for the 4th time for an annual conference. They're always helpful and the rooms are always clean and well kept up. The location is reasonably convenient, just about a 7-10 minute walk from the night market. The food is usually good, not spectacular, but good. Great stay. Excellent pool and service. Rooms are very comfortable and roomy. Only down side is the small gym. Nightclub/lounge has a great live band. Breakfast buffet good but not great. The Empress is incredibly well-located- less than ten minutes from the night bazaar- and the staff is very attentive for such a large hotel. The day we came back from trekking we were upgraded, and at dinner one night we received gratis shrimp and melon, cake, and Thai whiskey. The manager even presented us with jasmine flowers. We love it here it was like a little oasis. The room was very clean a little old fasion in style kind of like a cottage. The bathroom was a little small. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They had good breakfast buffet with alot of variety. We would most definately stay here again. Location was great and quiet more

This is our 4th visit to the Empress Hotel and we were welcomed like old friends. It is the most amazing value for money and is relatively close to the famous Night Market but far enough away (some 10 minutes walk) to avoid all the noise. Other hotels which are more pricey are situated in the middle of the Market... more
