This place is overrated....trust me....I've stayed at nice places, but this place is not that nice. The rooms we stayed in were of old furniture ("historic they call it"), the staff was not helpful at all. The tours booked through them are 5X more expensive than other places and the one we were on wasn't all that good. The conceirge... more

This is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. We had flown for over 24 hours from Atlanta, Georgia, via Seoul, Korea, to Hanoi. We arrived at the hotel after midnight local time. The front desk staff -- despite the late hour -- were friendly and helpful. After checking in, one of the clerks walked us to our... more

The famous Hanoi Metropol, a centrepiece of the French colonial era was a jewel in my itinerary, sadly though, age-old failings are found in its arrogant staff who fall below the standards of top-class service once the surface is scratched. Upon check-in, we were told that our room was not yet cleaned. An hour waiting in the bar area saw... more

I stayed in 3 hotels in Hanoi and this was by far the most glorious hotel I stayed in whilst there- and one of my top picks GLOBALLY. I love the Raffles style with the white buildings and teak furniture. I stayed in the new wing in an Opera room. The bed was marvellous, the bathroom lovely and I had... more

Wonderful ambience and fantastic service. We stayed here at the front end and back end of our Vietnam stay. The first 3 nights we were in the old section in a room that consisted of a sitting room and a bedroom. When we returned we had a large room that combined a sitting room with bedroom in the old section.... more

This hotel delivers an experience that ticks all the boxes required of an international hotel anywhere in the world, BUT, it offers so much more in that the extensions and modernisations have retained the historic integrity and Indochine era charm that made the older hotel so famous- something sadly missing from the Raffles in Singapore. The staff are beautifully presented,... more

Stayed at the Metropole for 3 nights at the new Opera wing, with one night in between away at Halong Bay. I cannot add anymore to the description of the hotel and its magnificent historical feel than what has already been written. Everybody was attentive right from the doorman, check-in, etc, and where there are shortcomings, they do try. The... more

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at the Metropole Hotel! One of our top 3 hotels we have ever stayed in. The drinks were great, the pool was relaxing, and the poolside foot message was perfection! We stayed in the newer Opera Wing-- very modern and comfortable. The large tub was great for a long soak after exploring Hanoi.... more

We´ve stayed in many top class hotels but the sofitel metropole beats them all. We stayed at the club rooms (opera wing) and service is perfect. We never felt more welcome and like to thank 2 `butlers` in particular : Nguyen Phuc Hung and Nguyen Xuan Duong. They always seemed to be there when we needed them. A big compliment... more
