First thing to say - this hotel is in the old quarter in Hanoi. The old quarter is dirty, noisy, permanently busy - crazy. So if you're looking for a standard western hotel experience, you won't find it in the old quarter - but staying at Gia Thinh you get a pretty good level of comfort and have the old... more

I chose this hotel as many people had raved about it. I could certainly not agree with the good reviews on this hotel. I stupidly requested a room with balcony...big mistake, only one person can stand on it and it is the noisiest room. I know that Vietnam has crazy traffic but there were no double glazing on these windows.... more

We arrived in Hanoi following a not so organized trip from Ha Long Bay and just wanted to start over. Fortunately we found Gia Thinh Hotel where Davis Duong was very helpful, one of the best. Davis, at the front desk had a tour table set-up and showed us his personal pictures of tours and we were pleased with the... more

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks having based my choice on previous reviews. First night I had a deluxe room - this was roomy (for the size of hotel) and clean but had moisture stains on the walls and ceiling (I believe the room was repainted during my stay after I changed rooms) and, worst of all for... more

The Gia Thinh is without a doubt the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Their rooms are outstanding with a personal computer in each room and the service is out of this world. Be sure to ask for a superior room if you stay there. At $30/night, it is absolutely worth it. more

Group of 7 of us (2 families), stayed in 4 rooms here in January. It is a lovely little clean hotel with basically good amenties. Good breakfast and very helpful staff. We had a room at the back and it was much quieter than the kids room at the front and I would recommend that you try to get a... more

The Gia Thinh is above satisfactory in every way. The property was clean and had some character. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The room size is just fine. We loved that they provided tons of fresh fruit each day, and in-room computer and the breakfast was nice. The location is wonderful and you have easy access to everything... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was a comfortable, peaceful haven from hectic Hanoi. Booking: We booked online via Hotel Club which caused a few problems when we arrived (tired, quite late etc). At first they didn't know about our booking, then they did but were overbooked etc. The girl on the reception tried to be nice about... more

Good clean rooms with a nice view to the street (but loud) or to the back (very quiet) and with a nice view to other houses. Friendly stuff, they also booked our trip to halong bay for 79 dollar for a very fine room on boat it was very good value, other tourist booked other agents and payed more than... more

Our first pleasant experience started with the personal and friendly response to our initial queries. Efficient Airport pick-up and welcoming reception at the hotel made us feel at home in no time. My wife and I spent an initial 3 nights in a standard room, which was clean and comfortable, but windowless, so for our second stay we upgraded to... more
