We stayed at the Khampiane Hotel during our tour of South East Asia with Intrepid Tours.The hotel is very nicely situated and one can walk all over town,to the Fountains(lots of restaurants)to the river,the National Museum(boring!)etc.Vientiane is a very relaxed and easy going city and we enjoyed the slowness of the pace of the city.The Khampiane has a nice entrance with lots of wood used for the exterior as well as for the furniture.There is a computer with an Internet connection in the entrance hall(free)which is a bit inconveniently situated.Breakfast room next to entrance,also with nice wooden furniture and bar.Breakfast was ok-the usual fruit,egg and bread.One can rent mopeds nearby to drive around town to visit some sites too far away for walking and offcause the tuk-tuks are everywhere and cheap.The rooms themselves are clean,equiped with fridge(Pepsi and water)As with most hotels we stayed in in S.E.Asia the bottled water left outside of the fridge each day,is free which is... more
