The boutique style Paradise Road hotel is housed in a stunning colonial heritage building. Paradise Road Tintagel is located 45minutes from the International Airport in is in close to many embassies and business located in Colombo's upmarket neighbourhood. We booked the Suite which was located on the ground floor and was extremely spacious and elegantly furnished, with a separate lounge area, bedroom and French doors leading out to a small courtyard with a private plunge pool. The bathroom was enormous with bathtub and separate shower. The restaurant was good offering tasty breakfast and dinner. There is also an outdoor fresco restaurant area which is nice for evening dinners. Other facilities included an open air swimming pool, bar and library, Overall - A true boutique colonial style hotel offering charm and character to enrich and experience Sri Lankan culture.

What a wonderful start to our holiday! The staff were very helpful and courteous. Food was excellent. On arrival they had upgraded us to the Royal Suite where we shared the bed used by King Charles lll and Queen Camilla to make mad passionate love whilst in Colombo.

Worth the visit. Lovely place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. Enjoy your meals outside at the porch. A must have a drink at the bar. Love the setup. Friendly service. On my next visit I'll stay there. They have lovely rooms.

My husband and I had the most wonderful stay here. There are only a few rooms so it feels very personal and special. The staff were lovely and friendly and the cocktails were amazing. The decor is extremely classy with large rooms, an amazing bathroom, lovely seating area outside and a delcious smell throughout. The breakfast was lovely and it was great to be able to sit outside in the sunshine with a delicious fruit platter. They kindly organised a cake and a room upgrade as it was our honeymoon which was really appreciated. Would really recommends staying here- Thank you to the smiley staff.

My experience at Paradise Road Tintagel was exceptionally disappointing and left me feeling unvalued as a guest. Despite the courteous housekeeping staff, the hotel fell remarkably short of expectations. My room was in a deplorable state, with visible damage to the walls and floors and toilet seat and a carpet that had not been adequately cleaned. While I had eagerly anticipated my stay at this historic house, the reality was that I did not feel safe there. I was the only female guest amidst an all-male staff in a small setting, exacerbating my discomfort. The situation worsened when my unwell daughter couldn't join me, and my attempt to leave just two hours post-check-in was met with a refusal for a refund for the three-night booking. Adding to the confusion and frustration, the hotel incorrectly claimed I had booked through Agoda.com when I had used Booking.com, who in turn provided no assistance or clarity, leaving me in a lurch. The glaring need for refurbishment at Tintagel is undeniable. The hotel reception and dining areas are high quality, but the rooms are another story. The once grand establishment rooms now stand tired and worn, with the staff in desperate need of support to revive its old charm. I regret to rate both the hotel and Booking.com at a stark 0/5 for their lack of cooperation and consideration, tarnishing my otherwise splendid experiences in Sri Lanka. While I’ve always shared positive hotel reviews, I feel compelled to caution potential guests about my unfortunate experience at Paradise Road Tintagel. In contrast, my interactions with other hotels in Sri Lanka and Expedia were commendable, restoring my faith in genuine hospitality elsewhere.

Why stay in a large hotel when you can experience the most magical stay at this historical boutique hotel?!!! The amazing staff make you feel right at home the moment you set your foot on the verandah. You are greeted with the beautiful signature scent of Paradise Road as you enter the building that once was the home to Sir Bandaranaike and his family. Every room has a unique charm with some of the original furnishings remaining. Housekeeping keeps the rooms spotless - we had the wonderful Saman taking special care of us. We slept so well and were surprised by how quiet it was considering how central this hotel is. Breakfast was wonderful and the dinner menu just as fantastic catering for vegetarians also, not to forget the wonderful cocktails. We also visited the groups gallery restaurant and shopped at their home ware store. Can’t recommend this hotel enough!! We will be back very soon. Thank you so much Paradise Road team for making us fall in love with Sri Lanka.

This is our 3rd stay at The Tintagel, and that should say something as we try our best never to return to the same place. This place is cool, classy and unpretentious with fantastic service. It’s a truly Sri Lankan experience in the finest sense, in an excellent location in the upmarket area of Colombo 3. Now, we expected the same as the previous stays, but I hate to say, it didn’t deliver quite at its previous stellar standards. Unfortunately, the place is looking a little tired with flaking paintwork, water marks on the ceilings, and stained cushions. Also the food wasn’t quite up to standard either despite its hefty price tag. But I’ve stayed in plenty of other places in Sri Lanka and world wide and this place remains one of the best and I would highly recommend this place to friends and family who like the smart, boutique experience. Certainly not for those looking for a loud, impersonal, ‘international’ place!

Paradise Road was exactly what we needed after our 10-hour flight from London - less than an hour from the airport and only 10 mins in a tuk tuk from the city centre. We are a family of 3 and only stayed 1-night in a Royal Suite which was a beautiful space. A four poster bed and a separate room for our son meant we had ample space along with a terrace for our use too. They have a swimming pool which is great for a quick dip after a trip to the city and a very atmospheric bar for a cocktail or 2. The service was second to none and great for dinner. You must try a Sri Lankan breakfast here - it sets you up for the day! A perfect start to our holiday!

Had a lovely lunch here with contacts. Lovely setting - interior decor is exquisite (requiring a little touch up). Menu was nice - I had the salmon/caviar starter and then we all ordered our individual main dishes. Service was good throughout and attentive - food was really tasty. Outdoor seating possible too but it was too humid. Car parking available.
