We landed in Colombo at 2am. The transfer from the airport to the hotel took about 90 minutes and there was no traffic. This is a brightspacious hotel in a great location. If you want exclusive and boutique then this isn't for you, but it has such lovely, expansive gardens and public areas that it never feels crowded. Many of the other hotels I considered were right by the busy A2 main road and only had a narrow stretch of beach, whereas this is set back and on the wide stretch of Beruwela beach, but within a five minute walk of the banks & shops. We had a deluxe room on the top floor which was lovely, clean, spacious and had great sea views. I did see the Eden rooms and they looked fine - just a little smaller. As other reviewers have mentioned, the nespresso coffee machine is costly - use the free sachets! But the butler did bring us complimentary juice and canapes every day at 5.30 to enjoy with the sunset. The pool is gorgeous and the staff/pool boys are great. more
