I stayed at Sisira's River Lounge for 2 nights - in a very nice room with a balcony that overlooked the river. As a birder, I was very pleased with the location as the grounds had some nice Sri Lankan endemics and others like the Hornbills, Owlets, Brown-capped and Orange-billed Babbler, Junglefowl, Dwarf Kingfisher, friendly Spot-winged Thrushes, etc as well as great views of the forest and river. The town center is a short walk away but you feel very far when at the resort. The food was great, especially when prepared by the chef and owner - by far the best rice and curry I had throughout my entire time in Sri Lanka. The staff were nice and courteous. Rooms are a bit basic, but clean and spacious and they get the job done. The open bath was an interesting one as it was raining often while I was there. On a whole, I'd be more than happy to stay there again. Reasonable place and great location to be at for birders. Be wary of the leeches any time you get off the marked paths. I seemed to be the only guest staying there at the time and so it may have been particularly The only annoyance was that the place across the river played loud music every now and then, which was especially disturbing when out birding (but I guess the resort owners can't do much about it)…

Very friendly staff, very good food. They offered us one cottage with 3 beds to relax, the accommodation was comfortable and was very basic.Lunch was delicious. I recommend this place to thrill seekers and people who love the nature and not 5 star luxury.Pretty much you get what you paid for.

We had a great time at this place. If you like adventures and pure nature, it will be perfect for you. The river rafting was so funny and the staff very helful and friendly. The rooms are just basic, but directly at the river in a nice surrounding.

It was proper jungle experience and we enjoined it a lot. Our host Shaun took us for rafting and canyoning. He also invited us to play volleyball with his friends and cooked the most tastiest meals in Sri Lanka. But if you are looking for a fancy hotel room this is not the place to stay. But if you are looking for an amazing experience with friendly environment we definitely recommend it. 😊

Perfect place to stay for students looking for adventure and to have fun. Plenty of adventurous stuff to do around - cliff diving, canyoning, rafting or hiking. We had a great time there with our guide Shoon and his friend Sanka who took us cliff diving (true professional). At night have some Arrak and enjoy getting drunk feeling the jungle from your balcony.

To begin with the room was filthy (despite the fact we got there when they had just finished cleaning it) and the beds were uncomfortable and also dirty. Furthermore we were only given two, hole ridden, mosquito nets to cover three beds. To top things off they had a party with extremely loud bingo playing and singing going all night, making it impossible to sleep even with earplugs! When we complained the next morining, the unfriendly staff informed us that the lodgings were unable to prevent said parties because... Honestly I'm still not sure why. We are students and normally stay in lower end accommodation so we didn't expect much to begin with, but honestly this place failed to meet our most basic needs.

If you want to get in touch with nature, this is the place to stay. It is situated right next to the river and since the hut has a nice terrace, you can relax while looking at the river and the birds and enjoying jungle sounds. Don't expect anything fancy though. It's true that the rooms could use some refreshment and that it certainly wasn't very clean. Mr shaun definitely made up for that! He was a wonderful host, he helped us with everything and it seemed like nothing was too much. He knows how to take care of his guests! He even cooked for us since the chef wasn't there and helped us plan our next stop. When we left, he gave us his number in case of an emergency on the rest of our trip. He is the best, hope to meet him again one day!

We are bird watchers and Sisira's has been recommend in the past as the place to stay for access to the Forest Reserve over the river. The grounds also purportedly have some unique Sri Lanka species. With this in mind we booked five nights for two couples. Our arrival coincided with Sri Lanka National Day long weekend. Unbeknown to us Sisira's were catering for numerous group parties. Over the weekend there was the constant beat of bongos and drunken young men singing directly below our balconies. Room 3 is of wooden construction; it was dirty and has not been well maintained and insecure as you can see in the images. Room 4 is of concrete construction; it too was dirty, however better maintained and secure. My point is, Sisira's need to decide whether they are in the function business or the Eco tourism business... the rooms were US$75 per night, WAY overpriced....We do not mind basic accommodation however we expect clean, secure and well maintained rooms as well as peace and exclusive use of the grounds. The service too was indifferent at best.…
