Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

1. No options for Breakfast. Only Omelette, Cut Fruits and Tea/Coffee were available. 2. No clean towels, napkins, toothbrush, toothpaste, handwash, soaps were kept in the bathroom. 3. The front desk and our room had big lizards and mosquitoes plus the fan was making a lot of noise which did not let us sleep at night. 4. Positive thing is that Liberty Plaza is nearby which has a good food court and you can go shopping. Not recommended 👎

Very comfortable large clean room. I had no problem with the wifi. Flatscreen TV and AC worked very well. The bathroom/shower was large and water flow was great. Breakfast was adequate and tasty. The manager, Suranjith, and his staff were excellent and offered true hospitality.

Great little hotel, several options and the top floor with terrace is a really good option! The Security Gaurd is the sweetest older gentleman and can’t help enough and always smiling. The Manager was so friendly and helpful with everything. Can’t say enough about just how nice they treat you. Oh, remote needs batteries:) Excellent location close to food and just off Main Street so quiet!

I was very impressed by Whitehouse Residencies, and enjoyed my 4-night stay there. My room was large, with a comfortable bed, a ceiling fan and efficient air-conditioning. The large bathroom boasted a huge shower cubicle with excellent water pressure. This hotel seems to pride itself on a hands-off approach, but as a solo traveller, I would have liked advice on places to eat and how to get around. On my last day I found a very good, low-priced vegetarian restaurant, Dosa King. If you walk through to Galle Road, and head towards Galle Face Green, it’s almost directly opposite Carnival Ice Cream. Please note that Whitehouse Residencies is incorrectly placed in Googlemaps. It’s actually on the main road, just past Palm Grove.

This 5-story apartment block sits in a prime location just off the very busy Mel Mawatha Rd, just up from Liberty Plaza and the 5-star Movenpick Hotel. There's a very handy Neely's Supermarket just opposite for anybody brave enough to cross Mel Mawatha Rd without a police escort. I stayed in 2 rooms. A simple double room on the second floor for my first night, and for an extra $10 a night, I was talked into taking the one-bedroom apartment on the 5th floor by the manager, Suranjith (he called it rather wishfully the penthouse suite, haha). I don't think so. Suranjith. Anyway, I preferred the room on the second floor. It was cheaper, easier to keep clean, no waiting for elevator, quiet, not stuffed with furniture, etc. There was good aircon in both rooms. The rooms at the back are a little quieter than the ones at the front. Breakfast was good. Yogurt, toast, jam, juice, coffee/tea, and best of all the omelette, which the marvellously talented and handsome chef, Ajith used to make for me each morning. He gave it a Sri Lankan twist by adding onions, garlic, tomatoes, etc--he even allowed me into the kitchen to watch him prepare it. Gordon Ramsey watch out. Definately the best omelette in town.

Room came with a kettle and fridge. Flat screen TV too but didn't use that. Staff contact was at a minimum and I quite liked that but they were very helpful when I needed anything. Good location. I thought my breakfast wasn't included but the man on reception knocked on my door at 9.30am the following morning and invited me for breakfast which although plain was fresh and tasty. I liked that personal touch. I'm not sure the bed sheets had been changed. Kept finding small black hairs in the bed and I'm a Scottish ginger.

Cute, clean and tidy unit in city. Central location, wifi and quiet room. Staff friendly and accomodating. Would gladly recommended to friends and family to visit, though would recommend one night in Colombo as its quite a dirty polluted city
