Really enjoyable stay in a smart hotel, close to the main tourist attractions - Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. Just a short walk through the picturesque old town area. The reception staff were very helpful and restaurant staff seemed to be genuinely happy at their job. The buffet breakfast was comprehensive and of a high standard. Of the... more

This hotel has great location which is very close to the most populer touristic places. you can visit Blue mosque , Topkapi palace and more even by walk.. Also moving to other squares (like Taksim ) by tram or any other public transport is too easy. If your purpose is to discover Istanbul , this hotel has realy great added... more

I have travelled to Istanbul several times on business and have stayed in different hotels. But when I decided take my wife for a short break, I decided to stay in Sultanahmet, which is the historical centre of Istanbul and walking distance from most of the tourist attractions. I did the usual initial internet research and Obelisk Best Western pictures... more

We sure liked this place. As others have written, it's just down the hill (3 blocks?) from the Blue Mosque. We had a Sea of Marmara view room which was adequate... nothing spectacular, but good. The hotel was our first hotel of a Rick Steves Tour, so obviously he thinks it's good. I'm not sure I'd have liked a none-view... more

The hotel is an old Ottoman town-house located behind the eastern side of the Blue Mosque towards the Sea of Marmara. It is within easy walking distance (5/6 mins) of the Mosque, Sultanahmet Park, Aya Sophia and Topkapi Palace, but be ready for rough and loosely cobbled streets and pavements that can be quite steep and stepped. Because the hotel... more

We appreciate your kind opinion about our hotel and services given. As the hotel is a 19th century Ottoman Mansion, we are not allowed to reconstruct the entrance floor, in spite of that we have a large, convenient, tastefully Ottoman style designed lobby. What kept your room silent was not the old building next door, but the double glazed soundproof...

I stay at the Obelisk every time I come to Istanbul. I come for a combination of business and pleasure. There are two things I like about the Obelisk, 1) it is in a great location, on a quiet street within walking distance of Sultanahmet tramway and tourist sites, and within a short taxi ride to Pera and Taksim. 2)... more

Besides the amazing view from the rooftop terrace of the Bosphorous Strait, Blue Mosque, and Aya Sofia, the staff was incredibly helpful. When I first arrived Mehmet from the front desk helped me work with a travel agent to plan the rest of my trip. He also was great in showing me local must-dos that are not in a travel... more

The best aspect of the hotel is its location. As I was in Istanbul with my wife and daughter for sightseeing, it perfectly served our purpose. It is located just a short walk from the key historical attractions of Blue Mosque, Ayasofia and Topkapi palace. You can also stroll along the Bosphorus in the evening and enjoy the cool breeze.... more

it has a beautiful roof where we had breakfast and see the ocean every morning. The room is OK, not bad. the Breakfast is Turkish and seems a little simple for us. (Actually,it is more or less the same as others) Staff are friendly, warm and humorous. Though it is very closed to the Blue Mosque, it is a bit... more
