I was able to get a last minute booking at this guesthouse for my Thanksgiving jaunt to Istanbul. It is located conveniently in tourist-friendly Sultanahmet on a cul-de-sac with great views of the sea. The guesthouse had recently undergone a renovation and my hardwood-floored room was nicely equipped with a canopy bed. Awaking to windows with a view of the... more

A friend and I stayed here in October and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed the first few nights across the street at Sebnem. However, they were not able to accomodate us on the last night (we were already aware of this when we booked) and Hotel Alp graciously took us in for 70 Euros for a large very clean... more

Pros: - A good deal for the price (we paid 70 euros/night). - Excellent rooftop terrace - views over the Bosphorus. - Nice fresh breakfast (on the terrace). - Friendly staff. - Good location for accessing the sights in Sultanahmet (by the way, if you love food then take my advice and do NOT bother eating anywhere in Sultanahmet -... more

We stayed here 3 years ago and again this time for one week - we found it to be close to the "tourist sites" but not right on the busy restaurant streets, therefore quiet for sleeping. Be prepared for the sunrise call to prayer!! The rooftop terrace was a great spot for breakfast or late night viewing of the city... more

We spent 4 comfortable nights at Hotel Alp. The rooms were pleasantly furnished and exceptionally clean with the unexpected bonus of a fridge and tv! Double-glazing even meant we didn't hear the 5am call to prayer on two nights (first time across Turkey). Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our only gripe was the breakfast. The miserable-looking, insipid food was... more

This place was great! Our group of three girls comfortably shared the triple room for three nights and the furnishings/ambiance were perfect. The hotel is on a quiet side street but just a few steps (literally) from a busy and lively main street that is perfect for young people. The front desk staff were always helpful and would hold an... more

Stayed here with girlfriends - having never been to Istanbul before - was taking pot luck! But hotel was in fabulous location - close to everything with excellent views. Clean and neat. Only suggestion would be for a covered & lit balcony for poor weather & nights, and just a little variety for breakfast - but other than that a... more

Many hotels in the area seem to compete for the best views and sun terrace - Alp has a room conservatory and a terrace which allows great views while enjoyed the good breakfast but in the warm (we visited in chilly March). We stayed 3 nights and had great views from our small room but the price was excellent so... more

Small and perfectly formed, Hotel Alp was a wonderful base for sightseeing in Istanbul. Helpful staff who really did everything they could to answer our questions and assist us really made this place for me. The breakfast terrace is lovely - part indoor and part outdoor for all weathers. Clean, decent sized rooms with nice dark wood furniture and a... more

We spent al this fine little hotel seven nights and found it an excellent value for money option. Very well located - just a five minute walk from Ayasofya - has almost everything a family needs: friendly staff, clean and cozy rooms, a small but beatifull terrace facing Bosporus and the Asian coast, a satisfying breakfast -plus free coffee/tea facilities... more
