My Istanbul-based friend warned me about staying on the Asian side prior to my visit(there's nothing there!) but the ride(traffic aside) was scenic and revealed another side to Istanbul that I otherwise would not have seen- chic neighbourhoods, families having a picnic in parks after a workday and dogs being walked by the Bosphorus...
