I have just returned from a 4 night stay in the Marmara guest house. The place is great. A small family run guest house with just a few rooms. The owners were really friendly and breakfast was fantastic. The location is great for sighseeing as you are only a few minutes walk from Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and Aya... more

The Marmara Guesthouse is one of the most pleasant budget guesthouses I have ever stayed at, anywhere in the world. Sure, it certainly isn't flash. My room was small, and the bathroom had minor plumbing problems. Like one of the other reviewers, I whacked my head on the staircase ceiling. But I highly recommend this place (which is, after all,... more

My wife and I stayed at the Marmara Guesthouse twice during our month in Turkey. We found it quite nice. Travelers should be aware that this is a low-cost establishment, which means the rooms are small, the shower is enclosed only by a curtain and drains in the middle of the bathroom floor, and as with most Turkish hotels, there... more

Absolutely first class. Staying here added a great deal to our enjoyment of Istabul. The Ateykin family who run the guesthouse recommended some excellent restaurants which we would never have found otherwise. They were extremely friendly and always willing to help us with our travel plans. If price is important to you then the Maramara Guesthouse offers the best deal... more

Our family (two adults and two teenage boys) just got back from an Istanbul excursion, using Marmara Guesthouse as base. We can't say enough good things about the experience. The rooms were simple, comfortable ,clean and effectively air-conditioned (important in the Istanbul summer heat). Fresh and plentiful breakfast on the rooftop terrace allowed us to look over the Sea of... more

This is a great place to stay in the Sultanamhet! We were walking distance from all the major sites and we had a great view from the terrace. The family who runs the guesthouse is also very helpful (they called the airpost and helped us get 2 lost bags back). The only drawback was the size of the room which... more

I stayed three nights at the Hilton (during a business conference, on somebody else's nickel) and then moved to the Marmara Guesthouse for two nights. Elif was a bit taken aback when she discovered I had moved down from the 200-YTL Hilton to the cheapest room in her little guesthouse, where the total charge was not much more than the... more

We stayed here Apr-2007, it cost £34.31(€50.00) a night for a double. Firstly I wish we had arranged for collection. At €40 for pickup from Sabiha Gökçen Airport it seemed expensive, esp when I'd been told there was a bus that went to the centre that was cheap. However there are three problems with that 1) the time you have... more

What a delight. First of all, after a long plane flight, arriving at Istanbul airport at 7.30am, how wonderful it was to see a nice young man holding my name and the guesthouse name. When we arrived at the guesthouse, was offered a lovely breakfast (included). The view from the communal breakfast room of the Marmara Sea is a wonderful... more
