This was an extremely disappointing stay & we ended up checking out early - this is I think the worst review Ive ever given. The photos of the hotel from the sea are very misleading as they make it look like the hotel is quite isolated & bordered by trees - if this was ever the case, the trees are long gone & there is a very noisy beach bar/ hotel next door now. At about 07.00 every morning the digger started outside (I’m not sure if this was linked to Reef Eilat or next door but a heads up that there is building work on going would be good as we specifically booked this place as it is sold as peaceful & idylic). Sadly for us our stay coincided with a huge outdoor party/ rave at the hotel next door, I belive this was something to do with an annual holiday celebration of some sort - again, a warning would have been good at teh time of booking as the pumping music started at approx 08.00 & went on until approx 23.00 every night for about 3 days & nights making it impossible to relax. This is fine if you are one of the many youngsters who have booked to go for a big party but if you’re going for a relaxing peaceful holiday its not so good. Then there is the ‘bar’. This has the grand total of about 5 drinks available on the menu, none of which is white wine, and one was a cocktail. The first time we tried it order a drink, we were told that it was the bar tenders first day & she didnt know how to make the cocktail. The next two times we tried, they were out of rum so couldn’t make the cocktail on the menu & I dont belive the rum was ever replaced during our stay. The opening hours of the bar are 12.00-17.00 so theres not much fo a window to get a drink anyway & there is nowhere you can get a drink in the evening at the hotel so you can sit out & enjoy the sunset for example. The bar staff were all without fail, miserable & they were sat on a stool in the corner on their phone. Or there was generally another stool on the customer side of the bar where another member of staff would often be chatting to the bar person - you were always made to feel like you were interrupting, & that everything was too much trouble. I had to ask 3 times for a table to be cleaned when I went out to sunbathe one afternoon (the first time I was told to go & ask reception & then he proceeded to carry on watching whatever on his phone). The limited hours also means that when the hotel is full of kids who are heading to the rave next door, they all have room parties as there is no bar, or were sat around the pool area with shop bought bottle of booze (which is what we ended up doing) On the first night I called down so I could get a glass of white wine (the room comes with a nice bottle of red but I dont like red) & was told that there is no white wine anywhere in the hotel. A few days later I noticed a bottle in a display case by the entrance only to be told that its there ‘to look nice’. I think this’d is the first time ever I have been to any kind of hotel that has no white wine… You do get a couple of small bottles of water on the first day but then you pay for every other bottle when we enquired as to why the bottles hadn’t been replaced. The website sells the restaurant & bar but the restaurant is only open for breakfast now & the bar extremely limited in opening hours as well as menu choices so again the website is quite misleading. The rest of the hotel, rooms, corridors, gym, are pretty tired tbh. Carpets torn & lifted, discoloured headboard, stains on sofa, grout missing in bathroom floor tiles etc. Just about every single beach/ pool umbrella has at least one tear in it, there is missing panel where the car park borders the pool area etc etc. The whole hotel and vast majority of the staff generally give the impression of having given up. The room cleaning was generally to a decent standard but a bit hit & miss as to what you get, one day the towels would be rolled beautifully & placed carefully under the sink, the next day just a loosely folded pile thrown in the room for example. Most of the staff are miserable to the point where we were giving each other a high five if we got a hello back or a smile. The mood was noticeably better the day we left which was after the various holidays were finished so maybe the staff were all frazzled after al the religious holiday periods & the 3 day rave next door (which meant that they were all having room parties in the hotel too)? The beach is stony which cant be helped but it is also littered with lumps of concrete from the building works. The beach loungers are lined up in 3 rows with each lounger approx 2inches from the next one so its impossible to get onto them & quite frankly, who wants to sunbathe that close to a bunch of strangers… The steps into the car park are broken with loose tiles & theres pallets & building materials left in the car park also There were some good parts which redeemed the score a little. Breakfast is amazing, great food, great choice & well presented (good job really as this is the last time in the day you can really get any food at the hotel - there is a v limited pool bar menu but its very limited). The pool guys were all really nice & cheerful (though the steps to the pool were broken & apparently had been for a while). I had to ask 3 people to get extra hangers but I’ll give the guy on reception his due (he was the third) & next time we went to the room there was a pile of hangers there for me. The Spa is done nicely & Svetlana(?) does a good massage, however the toilets are broken in there so you have to go to reception for teh loo) Everyone on reception was also really nice, friendly & helpful to the point where the girl who checked us out was really apologetic & refunded the few days that we didn’t stay for which definitely helped leave a better taste in our mouth. All in all, we were thoroughly confused as to where the great reviews come from regarding this hotel, its tired, dated, with often miserable staff & it is not cheap enough to warrant the level of service & decor problems. We wished we had stayed in the Marina area in the end which is beautifully done & peaceful. Reef Eilat hotel is none of these things sadly & as soon as we had finished diving, we had to escape somewhere else every day - some nights its nice to relax at the hotel when you’ve been doing stuff all day……
