Hostess Ruti made our two week stay a pleasure and was really helpfull in every way. This B&B is ideally situated only a 20 minute bus ride to the Central Bus Station from where busses go to all destinations in Israel. It's a 20 minute down hill walk to the Arab bus station to go to Jordan. Importantly it's in... more

Ruti is great and tried to help us always! No one will bother you unless you need help. I like the home feel here! The location is convenient too. Anyway, for Studio A, it need some fix work for the ladder, and the toilet is a bit small. We hope we can stay longer and at Studio G! Thanks Ruti... more

This summer was our 3rd year staying at Barkai Studios, each time for 3+ weeks. It has been our home away from home when visiting family in Israel. Ruti is a great host, friendly, knowledgeable, unobtrusive and with lots of good advice and information about the city. It's not a hotel so don't expect daily maid service. But rates are... more

Our stay at the Barkai studio was super; everything you need is avaiable. All sightseeings and shops are at walking distance. Ruthie was very kind to us and helped us out a lot. We liked the little garden and we're sure we'll come back! more

One of Ruti Barkai's charming studios is the perfect base for exploring this fascinating city. I stayed in studio A, and it had everything I needed -- a nice, big, comfortable bed; an air conditioner (a necessity in August!); a table for writing or dining; and a kitchenette with all the basics. Free wireless Internet, too! The two main studios... more

We, my husband and I visited Jerusalem for one week in July and stayed by Ruti Barkai in studio G in the garden - a charming place with both the owner lady Ruti, all the olive trees around, and the birds who started to sing every morning. It was not only a charming place, but also really practical to walk... more

My family -- self, husband, and college-age son -- just returned from 10 days in Jerusalem, staying at Barkai Studio, apt. A. We loved it! The neighborhood is quiet, a short walk to the Old City or to Jaffa St., easy access to shopping (if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks), pedestrian-friendly. We found the studio perfect for... more

Our family (husband, wife, and college-age-son) stayed in Ruti Barkai's Studio A for 10 days during our first visit to Israel. It was the IDEAL base for seeing all of Jerusalem. For a family of our configuration, it provided privacy as well as comfort. As others have said, from this point, you are within easy walking range of the beautiful... more

I think this is the best place from where you can start to visit Jerusalem. It is near to the New Gate and to Damascus Gate; Jaffa Gate is also nearby. just few minutes more walk. I enjoyed to talk with Ruti and to visit her working place. The area is quite and you can feel the atmosphere of Jerusalem... more

I had never been to Israel or Jerusalem before and after taking the Nesher Taxi as recommended by Ruti, I arrived around 2 am in the morning at the right place, thanks to the little note that I printed out and gave the driver. Ruti makes it very easy for new arrivals to find their way around town. After I... more
