Yes, the Jerusalem Gate hotel needs an update to its facilities, but I can tell you from taking groups to this hotel every year that they LOVE the experience of being in a JEWISH ORHTODOX hotel to experience what the culture is all about. I dont agree that the staff is not friendly. Most are,but this you also get at... more

We spent five nights here as part of a 12-day visit to Egypt and Israel. To begin with, we didn't think much of the place - they had provided two rooms for the family, but on separate floors rather than adjacent, and both rooms were very basic and rather grubby. It was well overdue for refurbishment. But our attitude changed... more

This hotel seems to be frequented mainly by ultra-orthodox Jews and maybe they don't mind the poor quality and awful service. Supposedly 4-star, probably not worth two, it is shabby, run-down and poky. The bedroom was very basic with a very old television and the bathroom needs renewing with bits missing from the bath. Breakfast is OK but nothing special,... more

We found a 'deal' on Expedia for $100/night, a good price for a 4-star hotel with an average location, close to the central bus station in Jerusalem. Unfortunately the quality of the room was everything but 4-star! The first room we got was on the 7th floor , with a nice view and two single beds as requested on booking... more

I'm sorry but this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. The floor they gave us had a sewage problem so that our four night stay stank with a mix between mildew and death. The rooms were like mental asylum holding cells, with the furniture made for midgets. The staff seemed disinterested and uncaring, and... more

I agree with the other reviewers--this hotel leaves a lot to be desired\. The location to the Central Bus Station is the only redeeming feature. The rooms are horrible. If they change the sheets once a week you will be lucky. While I stayed there they did not make my bed twice in a 7 day period. The smell is... more

extremely large building with a glitzy reception area after this the style deteriorates dramatically.Lifts are very small despite this it is easier to take your own luggage than wait for the disinterested staff/ porters to bring it to your room.Dont ask any questions at reception you will be ignored.Staff are rude with the exception of the coffee shop manager Rooms... more

This was the hotel our tour company booked for the Jerusalem leg of our trip. Affordable, yes but had I known the quality of the rooms and the overall state of the hotel, I would have opted to pay more to stay somewhere better. Rooms and halls were old, worn-out and musty. Our trip coincided with a HUGE (probably occupied... more

I got there and discovered that they had double-booked our room. I couldn't believe it - they'd reserved the same room to two families, and since the others got there first, they got the room. I booked with them directly - how difficult can it be to set a room aside when someone books with you? The people at the... more

It is quite a walk to the old city and will cost you about usd 10 to get there by taxi. Reception staff are attentive and also most of the dining room staff. However the food is not up to standard and the rooms are shoddy. The seat in our room just didnt have any upholstry. Another point is ,... more
