Stayed at Alcazar with a mate during a backpacking trip to Jersulem. We stayed for 3 nights and got a great rate via www.hostelbookers.com. In fact the rate we got for Jerusalem was exceptional. The hotel is very well located not far from the old city, and our room was spacious and comfortable. Youseff, one of the owners, was a... more

The Alcazar hotel was a bit difficult to find at first, as the Jewish drivers did not seem familiar with the area. If you plan to stay here make sure you know exactly where to go!! The hotel was fairly close to the old town but the surrounding area was a bit run down. Walking to the old town I... more

I really enjoyed my stay at the Alcazar hotel in East Jerusalem. The hotel is clean and comfortable with very friendly and helpfull staff who really try hard to make your stay enjoyable. It was a pleasure to stay here and I will return. The free tea and coffee in the lobby day or night, the warm greetings and friendly atmosphere... more

The staff is very helpful, free internet and breakfast all contributed to making Alcazar and good place to stay. However the hotel does show some wear, but for the value I could not complain. The up hill walk was not a real problem and was only 10 minutes from the old wall. more

Nader and his colleagues made our stay a great introduction to East Jerusalem and the fantastic hospitality of Palestinians. The rooms and decor were OK and adequate, clean but sparse. The breakfast was delicious and tea/coffee available all day. I'd recommend this hotel if you want a cheap hotel in Jerusalem. more

Although the rooms are a bit outdated, the staff made it all up. They are really great! Extremely friendly and helpful. It was a great pleasure to stay in this hotel for one week! Price/quality is nowhere better. more

I could not ask for more as far as service, friendliness and helpfulness of staff is concerned. They'd do more than is required. Food, especially the breakfast buffet, is really nice and generous. The location is good for exploring the city. (Damascus gate is just 15-25 minute walk from the hotel!) Some rooms need renovating but whatever flaws or minuses... more

The staff in this family-owned hotel are extremely friendly, helpful and serviceminded. A very nice breakfast buffet (fresh fruit and vegetables, various Middle Eastern specialities and common things as cheese and jam) and clean rooms, extend the good impression. I have stayed in several hotels in Jerusalem and never got all this to such a low price! Although the rooms could... more

So...when we were dropped at the front door and we saw a dumpster with unknown liquids running from underneath and 10 cats jumping in and out of the dumpster, we knew we had not chosen the "number 1 hotel in Jerusalem" per what Trip Advisor said. If you are a college student with only limited resources or live in the... more
