Most of the hotels in Amman seemed to be quite over priced for what you get -- Which seems to be the case in a lot of the middle east. The Gardenia was a good mid-range option for us, staying 2 nights to visit The Dead Sea before departing to Kenya. The hotel itself is a bit dated and the... more

Our room was OK, could have done with a bit of upgrading but generally clean with en suite and small kitchenette. The kitchenette had items missing which wasn't a problem as we weren't there to cook food but a bit remiss particularly if you write an itinery of what it should stock. What really let it down was the breakfast.... more

Stayed for one night. Staff friendly. Clean room. Quiet street. Little bit out of town, but walking distance to Irish Pub (unfortunately under renovation when we were there)! more

What I liked the most was the location. Close to Safeway, and 10 min from downtown. Kitchinette is very practical, and the room was clean and comfortable. Helpful staff. Perfect for a short stay in Amman. more

We had an extra day after a tour ended in Amman. The tour had us staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, which is much further out of town, large and impersonal, with small rooms and a much higher tariff. Amman is very spread-out and you need to use taxis much more than anywhere else I've been. But Gardenia is at... more

Stayed here for two nights. Staff on the front desk were friendly and very helpful, with plenty of recommendations and advice (and assisted with directing taxi drivers). The convenience of being a 10 minute walk to the Safeway supermarket was also great. It's about a 1.5 JD cab ride downtown, so despite being away from things, it's easy/cheap to get... more

Stayed in this hotel for two night, as a start of my 4 weeks Jordan + Egypt trip. Decent hotel. OK rooms. Decent breakfast. Coldish bathroom but nothing compared to what was awaiting for the rest of the trip in Jordan. Pretty good value for Amman (60 JD per night?) that tends to be expensive. It's geared towards a mix... more

We didn't have great experiences with mid range hotels in the middle east. Most did not deserve their 3 star rating ad were Overpriced. Located in the upmarket area of shmeisani, this hotel was well positioned ( 5 min from safeway by walk) and 10 min by taxi to all other areas in town for about 1 jd taxi. Rooms... more

At the Gardenia I sent several suits and shirts out for cleaning. They were returned and placed in my closet. I only briefly checked them before packing. Several days later I was at a hotel at the Dead Sea - 40 km away. I went to dress and discovered that one of the suits they had given me was incorrect,... more
