Black Iris is very conveniently located in Madaba as well as all of Jordan. We stayed here for 2 nights in early December while visiting the Dead Sea area and decided to return for another 2 nights after visiting Petra and Rum. We had a rental car but did not really need to use it while in Madaba. As Odeh,... more

Very clean, rooms and baths are simple but comfortable, breakfast is satisfying, heating and hot water always reliable. Position is excellent just 5 minutes walk from city centre. Madaba is a pleasant town, more relaxing than Amman as a base for exploring northern Jordan. But what makes this hotel special is the great hospitality of the Al-Sawalha family, who own... more

Really friendly owners running this hotel in Madaba. They can help you with whatever you need. In our case very useful information concerning taxi rates in the area of Amman. We slept in the tent dormitory placed on the roof, which is an ideal place for backpackers. It provides also good views to the North and East part of the... more

Odeh and Anna welcomed us and arranged a special rate to accommodate our travel needs (midnight flight). They patiently answered any questions we had about sites, best places to make purchases, helped confirm our air reservation and return rental car, offered use of internet free of charge (they're planning to upgrade to wi-fi throughout the hotel), had maps available for... more

Initially stayed in the family room for 3 nights at the start of our 10 day trip to Jordan. We also stayed the last night on the roof ( in a tent ) as it is pretty handy for the airport. The owner Odeh is young and well travelled himself and couldn't be more helpful. He seemed to be pretty... more

We had a little trouble finding our way to the hotel, but once we got there, the hosts were most welcoming and accommodating -- eager to help us find our way around, suggest places to eat and visit, and with anything we needed, really. They did not have any double rooms with two beds, so they gave my friend and... more

The Black Iris was everything we needed while staying in Madaba. The rooms were not fancy, but plenty comfortable and clean. The hotel was quiet and in a very quite location, but only a short stroll from the shops and restaurants. The morning 'buffet' was the best breakfasts we had in Egypt/Jordan by far and filling enough to cary us... more

Our stay in the Black Iris Hotel was great. We were travelling with one male and two female and had a great bedroom, good shower and toilets. There was no airconditioning, but even in high summer the rooms were okay, as long as you open the windows at night. The family that runs the hostel is really great. Smiling all... more

The owner of this hotel is so friendly and helpful he really made our stay a pleasure. The hotel is clean and great value for money, the breakfast was lovely, great za'ata! I would really recommend this hotel, if only for the real hospitality of the owners and the knowledge and experience they have of the area. more

We stayed at the Black Iris Hotel for a couple of days while in Madaba and, while the room was fairly basic (two small twin beds with fan, no A/C), we found the hospitality to be unbeatable - the breakfast was tasty and fresh, the hotel itself had nice areas for relaxing, and the owners were helpful in helping us... more
