Jebel Al Akhdar hotel is a little hotel on top of the Saqy Plateau in the Western Hajar mountains. The Jebel Akhdar also called the Green Mountain , from which the hotel takes its name rises up to 2500 meter and is 12-15 degree C cooler than Muscat.
The Jebel Akhdar is a beautiful areas with numerous historical village scattered about the Plateau and deep canyons, with pomagranate, apricot and walnut plantations hugging the steep slopes on man-made terraces. The local people are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, offering weary travelers refreshing pomagranate juice, honey and dates.
The hotel is not a 5 star resort with a pool, deck chairs, bars and spa, but for an outdoor explorer is it a wonderful place to stay after a day spend hiking and driving the many 4x4 trails through the moutains. The rooms are clean and the beds are gorgeous with the softest coton sheets I've ever slept on. Certainly beats a night in a tent. Although airconditioners are obviously standard...
