Communication was a problem - I contacted the hotel directly (by phone) to book, was given a deal inclusive of taxes and charges - 545 euro for 4 nights, B&B for 2 people, one double room. This was never confirmed by email as I requested. I confirmed the price the day before arrival. On arrival, late at night, we were given... more

Do yourelf a favor and save your money. Cham Palace is no where near 5 star; it is more like 3 stars. Rooms are small, beds are worn out, as well is carpeting. Bathrooms are cracked up, with water leaks..smell is bad. Will never stay ther. Buffet food quality and presentation are bad. Spend few more and stay at Four... more

We were not booking for this hotel at first but somehow, the Four Seasons were fully booked, so we got to take this hotel as our shelters. The room was clean and OK but still there were something little about the restroom and breakfast that we still think they could have made it better. The staffs were fairly supportive but... more

The picture of the Cham Palace Hotel lobby was always for me the picture of Syria , because i saw it in every brochure about Syria. I stayed in the hotel for 5 days ,my stay at the hotel was really great , the hotel itself is a destination , The food is EXCELLENT and myself,, a real gourmet was... more

Went there after visiting Jordan's Marriott Dead Sea Spa Resort. The impression I had after my visit to this hotel is the one you have when you visit a luxury hotel in the first place and then you have to go to a village guest house. The Hotel was meant to be a five star hotel but it is very... more

Stayed here for a short while giving a course in Damascus. Most certainly a stunningly beautiful lobby and reception full of inlaid marble and wood. The hotel expresses a sense of luxury typical of upmarket Arabic hotels, but it would certainly do with a little renovation as most of the beautiful woodwork (even inside the elevators) is showing signs of... more

The Cham Palace is well located in central Damascus. The lobby area is quite unusual and atmospheric. All of the male staff were friendly: however some of the women at Reception were positively rude, for some reason I did not understand. The rooms are comfortable and clean, although they could do with a bit of attention. The swimming pool was... more

This is as central as it gets; and for that you have to take the City beat. Tribal drums banging away until 4 a.m. nearly every night can spoil well established sleep patterns (a top floor - adjacent to the Hotel - disco/restaurant within 10 metres from your bedroom window). All hotel menus etc state 'Prices include service and government... more

Cham Palace in Damascus was one of the original luxury hotels in Syria and continues to deliver. Good food, service and rooftop pool. Rooms are nice but not over the top luxury. Lobby atrium area is a hub of social activity in Damascus. Also check out the bowling alley and movie theather in the basement. Would highly recommend. more

Stayed here for a total of 5 nights. We went, in the middle of our stay to the sister hotel in Aleppo for 3 nights. Cham hotels are state run. I guess the basic bedrooms are a bit like, say, a Holiday Inn, but the decor was good and food excellent in all the various places available to eat. There's... more
