You realise that something is not quite right as soon as you set foot into this hotel. Located about 40 minutes drive from Abu Dhabi airport and a similar time from Dubai the hotel is about half way between these two cities, based on the coast. We had to move here from Abu Dhabi as a result of the room rates going through the roof due to a local exhibition. The hotel was originally a guest house for the Bahrain Palace and consequently its transformation into a proper hotel is lacking. The rooms are large but sparsely furnished with elderly furniture. There is no heating so it was extremely cold. The corridors are huge and you never see other guests despite the receptionist saying that they were full. Some rooms and corridors are blocked off as a result of being used for something else rather than there original use.
