First: It is probably still not a good idea to be traveling to Sana'a (as of March 2013). The political situation and thus the city have stabilized since 2011, but there remain serious safety concerns. Especially if you are American. Guns, soldiers, checkpoints, militias everywhere. Twelve-year-olds with AK-47s. Hurray. So the rest of this review assumes you are coming here... More

Overpriced food of poor quality, rude staff, and incorrect bills, these are a few of the things wrong with this so called 5 star hotel, a food bill charged to me on a day that I was in another city in the country for 2 days, no apology , no reason given. The Internet is a joke 25 dollars for... More

Hotel service is good yet slow due to nature of the city if you are going to book make sure it is city view since it is beautiful picture ... Utilities are Good for the city however food is average and you can have much better one outside the hotel if you have a car. The good thing beds are... More

The Moevenpick Hotel Sana'a is without a doubt your safest bet given the current turmoil in Yemen (I'm writing in early 2013). It is located across the street from the British Embassy and has tall stockade walls. Entry is strict: your vehicle is search on the way through the double gate, your bags are checked on the way in --... More

Stayed here for work a couple of weeks ago. Hotel is located up on a hill, security is ok. food is average, you will find much better food if you eat outside; at much better prices. The staff is very nice, especially the bellmen, they are great. would stay here again.

I easily located this hotel where I had booked a room for two days. It is just a twenty mins drive from the airport. I was warmly received at this beautiful, safe and peaceful hotel; and escorted to my room. The air conditioned room was clean with everything neatly arranged in it. The staffs could speak good English and were... More

The hotel is located on Shamnsan Mountain (or Dhaher Hemiar as per locals). The property is 10 minute away from the city and 20 minute from the airport. The surrounding area is safe and secured due to the hotel’s inspection gate and nearby embassies. Timeless and accurate services are provided by the hotel. Hygiene, comfort and attendance to the guests’... More

It is funny that the undisputable Nr. 1 hotel in Sanaa appears rather low on Tripadvisor. The hotel has a great view over the city, a huge outside and an inside pool, a decent spa, a large lobby and a good choice of dining options. Hygiene and Security seem to be top priorities.

I stayed at the Moevenpick for one week, and then switched to the Taj Sheba. The first and biggest turnoff was that anything not included in your room price is heinously overpriced. Breakfast is $27 for nothing special, and since the hotel is relatively far from everything else, there are no other options in the morning. If you want to... More
