My husband and I just returned from a four night stay at Casa Suaya in Jose Ignacio. We had booked three nights, but so enjoyed our time at Casa Suaya that we extended our stay. Our upper story beach view room was spacious, impeccably clean, and stylishly appointed. My husband enjoyed the free wi-fi and the many TV channels available.... more

Casa Suaya is a small hotel that was opened in 12-2008. It is located about 6 km north of Jose Ignacio, the most charming beachside village you can imagine. The hotel itself is directly across a quiet little 2 lane road from the Atlantic Ocean. Between the road and the ocean and some sand dunes, lightly sprinkled with foliage. Most... more

Like a bad continental breakfast. reception: We arrive late of night, and guess what? there is no reception... We wait for almost 30 minuts... more

Jose Ignacio is Punta del Este for the locals - it's a beautiful little town with great energy. The high season is January, and there are nightly parties, some of them HUGE. There are amazing hidden restaurants, beautiful beaches, and a very European atmosphere. Casa Suaya is a unique resort that feels more like you're staying at someone's home. The... more

It was so bad I don't know where to start. The prices are just made up, and are not justified - the food is not good, the self-catering apartments are very ordinary, cheaply built and decorated, the bathrooms tiny. The attitude of the owner was breathtakingly rude. It was quite funny actually - how impressed with himself he was, but... more

I lived in Buenas Aires back in 1997 and frequented the Punta Del Este and Jose Ignacio areas before the big boom. Until I found my home at Casa Suaya did I truely experience the magic of what one refers to when they say "you've gotta check out Punta!" Not only is the compound private, quaint and super stylish and... more

Where do I begin...first of all, travel to South America from the United States is not as far as it seems. From from Los Angeles or New York, there is a connection thru Miami, (American Airlines) with a 1-2 hour layover that make the trip to Uruguay a breeze. When you land in Montevideo, depending on your budget, you can... more
