The four of us stayed at Nerima for 1 night on the way up from NZ to Vava'u. The rooms, which are upstairs, are perfectly clean and are well suited to people travelling as singles or couples. But we needed two rooms for the family which added up to about 170 TOP for the night - there are better value... more

If you are looking for a 5 star resort, Nerima is not the place for you. But if you're looking for good, clean accommodation centrally located, i don't think you could find better value than Nerima. The host, Naoko, is an incredibly helpful and reliable host. She'll look after you. And a great cook too, I might add. Nerima is... more

Nerima Lodge is a great place to stay in Nuku'alofa if you're looking for backpacker standard of accommodation. Our room (double with private bathroom) was small but cozy and clean. There are shared and private rooms upstairs, with a small seating area, a fridge and sink, and a balcony. Downstairs is where you'll be served breakfast (bacon, eggs, toast and... more

The best thing about Nerima is Naoko, the hostess. She was the most friendly person you could imagine, with great English. She told us lots of stories, helped us infinitely, arranged things for us and answered all questions. Really great value. The next best thing was our room which was very clean, as was the common area near the rooms.... more

While the owner of the lodge is lovely and extremely helpful, the common areas are quite cluttered and give the impression of being old and rundown. We had an ensuite double room with a futon bed which was ok and the room quite clean but the bathroom was not great, with the toilet not flushing properly - we even had... more

This guest house totally met my expectations, based on information I had from the Lonely Planet guide book. The owner lady is a lovely helpful person with a lot of knowledge about the country (and other things - therefore a great conversation partner). She made me feel so much at home that I was tempted to call her "mom"... The... more

We read about Nerima in the Lonely Planet. We are travelling around the world and for so far we've visited; Mexico, Venezuela, USA, Samoa and now Tonga. The stay at Nerima Lodge was really comfortable. It's near the market, near the centre and near a good rental place for cars and above all scooters. We rented a scooter for a... more

We stayed to nights at Nerima Lodge and it was a great experience. The owner was very helpful. She organized a day trip to one of the off shore islands for us and also the transport to the airport. The breakfast was awesome. Since those were our last two days on Tonga, we could not have picked a better place... more

Unfortunately Nerima Lodge is located in a suburban neighbourhood which means insomnia is a high possibility due to the sounds of the local panelbeating shop along with dogs, pigs, and roosters from the early hours. Nonsmokers beware as the host smokes downstairs and smoking is permitted on the upstairs verandah which means it will permeate the guest rooms. This is... more

Coming to an end of the world can be a problem to some people. Not to my husband and myself. We had been privileged to get in contact with the Nerima owner about half of a year before arrival. She arranged all in no time - Visas in a week via e-mail, describing the country so perfectly as she would... more
