The Kandawgyi palace hotel i conveniently located by a lake in a calm area just north of Yangon downtown. The hotel vibrates 1940:s with very friendly and helpful staf. The hotel lobby is a perfect place to sip a beer or two and the lakeside bench (included in room rate) is the place for a afternoon salmiak drink. At the... more

Recently spent three days in this hotel. Their standard rooms are very old and musty, with yellowing bed sheets. Upgraded rooms have newer bed linen and a few extras, but are still not particularly fancy. this was probably a nice hotel about 10 years ago, however now has seen better days. more

We stayed here for 3 nights on two occasions in Jan around a trip to Moulmein and on returning after Moulmein we all agreed it was like returning home. A beautiful hotel with lots of atmosphere given the architecure. The rooms are lovely, clean and just so different from your average hotel. Pool was a bit slimy but that was... more

Architecturally pleasing and sitting elegantly by a wooded lake. Room interiors can take a bit of updating but views are spectacular whether of Shwedagon or the lake. Best asset though is the staff who will stop at nothing to smoothen difficulties associated with travel to Myanmar-from domestic ticketing to foreign exchange. Was able to use my credit card which is... more

Good gardens, nice lake front room, room just ok, bathroom poor, smelt a little, restaurants in the hotel AWFUL, no internet AT ALL, reception staff useless, but its about the best price for quiet and luxury in the city. Pool is a bit scummy but nice location so who cares. more

This was probably a nice and impressive hotel. Today it needs a complete renovation from the old style lobby to the A/C system which is very unreliable (awfull heat and smell in the room). Appalling restaurant on the terrace (frozen barbecued food). The ground floor rooms (with the nicest views) are all reserved for the European Commission Aid programme. Good... more

I loved my experience here. I travel frequently to Yangon and will make it my ppreferred hotel. it was just after cyclone Nargis so the pool was not operating and ther was some building noise working on repairs to the roof - however the staff and food made up for any of those shortcomings. Excellent buffet breakfast and all meals... more

There are one or two things badly wrong with this hotel. The biggest problem was the bedroom. This looked impressive but had a dreadful musty smell, as did the rooms of our friends staying close by. The bottled water in the room bar was stated to be imported but was in fact just the local stuff at a truly ridiculous... more

Superb hotel! Very friendly staff, clean and nice decorated rooms, good shower and and a superb view! Breakfast and even the buffet at night were great. Especially if you have the roomrates by the internet it's a very good value! more
