I love Hotel Gutsa - I stayed here in May 2008 and again in March 2009 when I came to Tbilisi to do research for 2 weeks. It's located on the main drag (at the top of Rustaveli St), rooms are very nice (the best is #1, facing the courtyard), each with its own bath and toilet, television, and wireless Internet. High ceilings, paintings and antiques. It is very CLEAN and safe. The owner is a delightful woman, a former math professor and the mother of two of Georgia's best contemporary painters (twin daughters) and a son who is a doctor in France. She is very well connected in Tbilisi and gracious about helping guests find people and places, and is a wonderful storyteller. She paints pictures in the kitchen a lot of the time, leaves guests to do their own thing. more
