I have been staying at the Ismailia House Hotel in Cairo each winter for the past three years. I go back again and again because, for me, it is a haven of peace in a noisy, busy city called Cairo. A bit run down but in prime location. Ashloff is the man to ask for if you want good HONEST advice he seems to be the man in charge and speaks great english and has a great manner when dealing with his guests. The place is a bit run down and is hard to find we found it easier to... more
The hostel was hard to find, the entrance is behind a newspaper kiosk between 2 buildings. We obviously looked lost and were directed to the lift by a friendly neighbour. The lift has a dodgy feel about it, as does most of the building. Once inside the hostel, you might see just how run down the budget rooms are on... more
