The common area as you arrive looks nice, don't be fooled! The rooms are filthy (floors etc had not been cleaned in years, there were layers of dust and dirt, the water back up in the drain in the shower) and dangerous (power points without covers, open sewerage drains etc). A friend and I stayed at the Gresham for four nights. For two people, it was the same price as some of the Hostels in the area and for privacy, air conditioning, and an excellent staff it was very enjoyable. Anyone staying in Cairo on a budget, the Gresham is a great place to stay. more
