We stayed at the Sofitel twice, at the beginning and end of a tour. For the second stay, for some reason we were upgraded to the club level with full amenities including complimentary happy hour and appetizers as well as free Internet and snacks all day. The rooms were clean and large, the bed was very comfortable, and the airconditioning... more

The hotel is a big tower in the south part of the gezira island in the middle of Nile. In the hotel are approximatley 25 floors, 3 restaurants, bank, buddha bar, casino, spa and sauna. The staff is helpful and kind, but sometimes is not really efficient (we had some problem with air conditioned, it was solved after 2 days). more

We were extremely dissapointed by the service at the hotel. When we arrived they initally had no record of our booking, after two hours we were allowed to book in. One of the personnel told us that we have booked "a sepcial offer" and that all our meals were included - he actually encouraged us not to dine outside the... more

the only thing I loved in this hotel was the nile view from the balacony from the 20 th floor , other wise its so expensive(350 USD) ,the room was v. uncomfortable it was so small and the bathroom was v. bad , old , the water was leaking from the sink and there was no tub only a small... more

We stayed here for 1 night during our 2 day Cairo tour from our cruise ship. After spending 9 days in a cabin, this hotel was a very nice break to the cruise ship quarters. We had a room on the "4th floor" which was actually about the 8th, due to the lobby and other conference room floors. Every room... more

Loved the hotel overall but the sound insulation in the rooms is probably the worst I have ever experienced. I could hear every single door on the floor being opened and closed before I bought some earplugs. Did have some problems checking in - took far too long after a hectic day of travelling. The lobby is fantastic, was there... more

I CANNOT overstate what a wonderful stay we had. We were so amamazed w/ our room we chose to actually spend our free day on our tour just lounging in the room! Located RIGHT on top of the Nile river, the balconies...yes, plural...had amazing viewsover the river. Service was spectacular, bathrooms quite large, rooms elegantly decorated, we couldn't have asked... more

The hotel is in a great location with nice, modern rooms and great views of the Nile and the city. Some cab drivers had difficulty locating the hotel, but would eventually find it. The location, however, is great - right on the tip of Zamelek, you can walk to the Egyptian Museum or sit out and watch boats pass by... more

We stayed at the Sofitel El Gezirah as part of a package tour, so I really have no idea what it cost. My guess, based on the decor and meals, is that it was quite steep. My understanding is that the Sofitel recently re-opened after an extensive remodel and it shows. Everything in this hotel is gleaming, brand-new, and ultra-modern.... more

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel last October. My room was large with beautiful wood throughout. It was very clean, had a safe, a great view of the nile, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The sheets were fantastic as well....very soft & luxurious. I was on the 15th floor &... more
